Cold Rush

His-Laboratory_Cold-Rush-1a

Per usual, we’ve been having some hot and cold weather here in Los Angeles.

Brandon and I had just finished having brunch: some homemade shit and tamales from the tamale man on my street.  We were working up a sweat from the heat inside my apartment and were looking up places on Yelp.  After quite a bit of scrolling, we came across Cold Rush.  I ordered the Matcha Special (shave ice, matcha, adzuki [or adzuki] bean, and ice cream), and Brandon ordered the Yuzu & Mint Mojito.  Just as a heads up: Marukai will validate parking with a minimum purchase of $20, and unfortunately, Cold Rush does not validate parking.  You might be better off looking for a space at a meter.

The gentleman who prepared our desserts was nice enough to bring out our order to us (instead of us going back inside to get it).  Brandon and I said we’d come here again.  Shortly after we said that to each other, the dude who helped us brought a punch card to where we were sitting outside.  The two gentlemen there were quite friendly, so we gotta go back and that punch card filleddd!

Another Year

His-Laboratory_Another-Year-1 His-Laboratory_Another-Year-2 His-Laboratory_Another-Year-3

Twenty-six came and went. Here’s to another year of life.

Plenty has happened since my last birthday: a new job, new apartment, and other new opportunities. I’m not going to get all sappy and cheesy, but here’s to being blessed with another year and wishes for many more!

T-Shirt and Jeans Topman (T-Shirt here and Jeans here)
Bandana Vintage
Jacket River Island (similar here and here)
Shoes Converse

*Disclaimer: I do not smoke. Often times, a prop––like a cigarette––is used for creating a specific mood/vibe for a story. Thank you!

Zinc Café

His-Laboratory-Zinc-Cafe-1

I finally made my way to Zinc Café in the Arts District.

I’ve been eying this place for a while now. Tiffany and I decided to grab a quick bite where I ordered the gluten-free Blanco Pizza with Greens. Tiff ordered a cup of chili and a cup of hot chocolate (because it was a little chilly). There was a bit of a delay on her hot chocolate because they were out of whipped cream and had to make more. Aside from the delay on that, I would come here again to experiment more of the menu :)

Check it out for yourself. It’s just off Matteo and Willow.
